Since April 2022, I have been publishing Posts on LinkedIn instead of statements on this blog.
e.g. „I am not meant to be perfect!“ or „Learning from mistakes – that’s something we’re good at! But learning from successes is something we still have to learn.“
Please find below some concise statements (2018-2022) referring to what coaching is about [#Coaching], my personal point of view [#My View] and what I experienced as a systemic solution-focused coach [#My Experience].
#My Experience: The Future begins …. Now!
A good way to shape your future starts by imagining it
This minute video (in German) was created out of the moment, with a Qigong guiding thought in mind: „Here I am, nothing more, nothing less.“
Message: „As you may know, I have been working as a systemic solution-focused coach for some time now. This is a task that fulfils me very much. I am always happy to see how my coachees discover their own solutions and how they think about and invent their desired future. A simple, yet very challenging tool in this context is – the directing of attention. The future begins … now! “ 2nd April 2022
#My View: Space for Reflection
My passion is systemic solution-focused brief coaching – with the vision of establishing coaching as an ordinary space for reflection in everyone’s life – especially at universities. November 2021
#My View: Uniqueness
There are billions of people and there are billions of galaxies – and just as each galaxy is unique – so is each person. September 2021
#My View: My Journey to Coaching
In this podcast, which is produced by the ICF Chapter Zurich and held in Swiss German, I discuss major learnings and tell of my voyages of discovery as a coach. April 2021
#My View: Coaching & Mental Health
In this paper, I assume that trained coaches are quite capable of supporting the mental health of people in stressful real-life situations. Interestingly, this approach was anticipated by the new Delphi study „Zukunft des Coachings“ (Dr. Robert Wegener, Prof. Dr. Carsten C. Schermuly et al.). December 2020
#My View: Upcoming Knowledge and “Mental Knowledge Mining”
There is a way to surface one’s upcoming knowledge in a special dialogue. The approach is based on a fusion of solution-focused coaching methods and heuristic strategies. So it’s not about personal development, but about retrieving, reflecting and exploiting knowledge in the sense of
– mining: information has been acquired, but not (completely) analysed (cf. data mining)
– catalysing: knowledge has not been fully processed (e.g. unknown knowns, known unknowns).
The working title for this approach is „Mental Knowledge Mining“ („mental“ in contrast to „computational“). 2019/10 ff
#Coaching: Creative and Thought-provoking
“A misconception about coaches is that they tell their clients exactly what they should do. In reality, coaches listen to their clients, ask questions to get them thinking differently and help them come to their own solutions. The process is creative and thought-provoking to help the client maximize their own potential.” This description of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) is very smart. It outlines what coaches (in the proper sense) are really doing. April 2020
#My View: Coaching is much better than an AI ChatBot Companion
A solution-focused coaching conversation takes you further and cannot be addictive – to name just two things. Your coach will treat you with respect and appreciation, does not judge and does not give advice, focuses awareness, uses creativity techniques and acts like a catalyst. December 2019
#Coaching: Mental sparring partner – an added value
Have you ever had an unbiased conversation partner who listened carefully for an hour and asked challenging questions which triggered unexpected ideas and perspectives? September 2019
#My Experience: Worth listening very carefully right from the first second
After attending a coaching session as a listener, there was something that attracted my attention and that I was really curious about. When the coachee and I had lunch together, I told him about my observation. Ten minutes later, he had found the answer he had been looking for for several years – he was simply overwhelmed. A connection between two areas of life has been established. March 2019
#My View: Coaching in the „language“ of natural scientists
Coaching sessions open room for creative reflection and are a valuable instrument to approach identified objectives effectively. In the „language“ of natural scientists, I would describe the experienced characteristics of the involved processes as follows: enzymatic, self-organizing and non-linear in terms of the so-called „butterfly effect“, i.e. small changes in system states create a significantly different near future. November 2018
For decades, I was a consultant and passionate adviser. Today, I enjoy coaching and witnessing my client’s major and minor discoveries.
